世界地质公园
距市区17公里，有一片由火山爆发形成的1000余平方公里
的熔岩台地。坺地而起的14座火山，环抱着五个溪水相连的火山堰塞湖，莽莽石龙蜿蜒其间，形成一道山、水、泉、石、洞俱全，奇特而绮丽的风景线......这就是2004年2月13日联合国教科文组织批准的全球首批世界地质公园--五大连池风景区。
五大连池1982年被列为“国家级风景名胜区”，1991年被国家旅游局评定为“中国旅游胜地四十佳”，19996年被国家命名为“中国矿泉水之乡”，同年被 国务院
批准列为“国家级自然保护区”，2001年又被
国土资源部批准为首批国家地质公园，2003年联合国教科文组织批准为世界人与生物圈瓮中保护区......2个世界级9个国家级称号足以让世人心驰神往。
“春迟风吹满山红，夏速百花齐争荣，秋凉霜染叶如杏，大雪纷飞看冬青。”五大连池是个神奇而美丽的地方。它不仅以世界罕见的火山奇观闻名遐迩，更以拥有神奇医疗、保健价值的天然矿泉水著称于世。14座拔地而起的新、老期火山，山山独立；五个串珠般的火山堰塞湖，湖湖相连；遍布地层深处的矿泉水网，网网各异，因而，素有“天然火口的惊心动魄，探寻天地
